Mixed messages

چکیده
plants are cloaked in hundreds of tiny projections, known as trichomes. These structures vary in function, shape, size and spacing from species to species, and it’s not known whether similar cellular differentiation programs are responsible for making trichomes in different plants. Trichomes are clearly visible in the scanning electron micrograph of a wild-type Nicotiana tabacum seedling above (bottom left). Petal epidermis is textured by different projections, called floral papillae, which are shown above at middle left. When the transcription factor MIXTA (which regulates papillae in Antirrhinum majus) is over-expressed in Nicotiana, petal papillae elongate to produce trichome-like structures and seedling leaves produce extra trichomes, as shown in the right-hand images. Although these specialized epidermal cells have nearly opposite functions — floral papillae attract pollinators by enhancing pigment perception, whereas leaf trichomes probably discourage hungry insects — these results suggest that, in Nicotiana, similar pathways regulate their development. Computational Modeling of 2-sided Message’s Effects on Perceived Argument Strength
The aim of this research is studying of 2-sided message’s effects on persuasiveness of anti-drug messages by computational modeling method. It’s been done for getting more effective and more persuasive messages. Persuasiveness of messages is measured be perceived argument strength of them which is determined by audiences. In this research, according to formative researches, a method for measuri...
متن کاملResponse-Time Analysis of Mixed-Type Controller Area Network (CAN) Messages
The existing response-time analysis of Controller Area Network (CAN) can compute the response times of CAN messages that are queued for transmission periodically or sporadically. However, there are a few high level protocols for CAN such as CANopen and Hägglunds Controller Area Network (HCAN) that support the transmission of mixed messages as well. A mixed message can be queued for transmission...
متن کاملExtending Response-Time Analysis for Mixed Messages with Offsets in Controller Area Network
The existing offset-aware response-time analysis of Controller Area Network (CAN) for mixed messages has certain practical limitations. It is based on the assumption that the jitter and deadline of a message are smaller or equal to the transmission period. However, practical systems may contain messages with release jitter greater than the period. Consequently, the deadlines specified for such ...
متن کاملAnalysis and Optimization of Mixed-criticality Applications on Partitioned Distributed Architectures
In this paper we are interested in mixed-criticality applications implemented using distributed heterogenous architectures, composed of processing elements (PEs) interconnected using the TTEthernet protocol. At the PE-level, we use partitioning, such that each application is allowed to run only within predefined time slots, allocated on each processor. At the communication-level, TTEthernet use...
متن کاملPromoting participation in physical activity using framed messages: an application of prospect theory.
OBJECTIVES Messages designed to motivate participation in physical activity usually emphasize the benefits of physical activity (gain-framed) as well as the costs of inactivity (loss-framed). The framing implications of prospect theory suggest that the effectiveness of these messages could be enhanced by providing gain-framed information only. We compared the effectiveness of gain-, loss-, and ...
متن کاملComparing the Effects of Negative and Mixed Emotional Messages on Predicted Occasional Excessive Drinking
In this work we present two types of emotional message, negative (sadness) versus mixed (joy and sadness), with the aim of studying their differential effect on attitude change and the probability estimated by participants of repeating the behavior of occasional excessive drinking in the near future. The results show that for the group of participants with moderate experience in this behavior t...
